Learning paths: effective, efficient and attractive

If you set a learning path for yourself, you can encourage yourself to work toward a goal. That immediately gives you a nice foothold. How are the development goals coming along? What is going well and what is not going so well? Should you perhaps adjust the goals a little? In this way you constantly steer and coach yourself towards your goals.

Two months ago we introduced the learning paths functionality within our training environment Striive Academy. What is it again? With learning paths you bundle different forms of learning about the same subject and cut the path to your final goal into pieces, keeping it clear and manageable. Actually, you can add anything you find in the platform and with a URL to your learning path. This can also be outside Striive Academy, for example videos or podcasts. You can add interim deadlines and you get a handy progress report, so you stay on track.'

How do you create a learning path?

To get started with learning paths, click from your dashboard to 'My Courses'. Here you will find everything you need to create a learning path. If you are coming here for the first time you will get a short instructional tour, explaining everything step by step. Next, how do you capture your development goals in a learning path?

  1. Think about your development goal(s) and make them SMART.
  2. Shape your learning path, using the offerings in Striive Academy and collecting URLs from external sources. Try - if possible - to use a mix of learning forms.
  3. Formulate your desired outcome and set a realistic target date.
  4. Start your learning path and plan fixed learning moments

Organization learning paths

In Striive Academy under 'Organization learning paths' you will also find learning paths that we have prepared for you. Nice and easy, you don't have to do it yourself anymore. At the moment there are 5; Develop Yourself to Cloud Specialist, From DevOps Engineer to Cloud Architect, From Network Security Specialist to CloudOps Security Architect, From Software Tester to DevOps Automated Tester and From Developer to Software Architect. We are very curious which learning paths are on your wish list. Share it with us!
